The day I called, Nobody answered. I wasn’t sure if you needed an appointment or if you could just show up as many animal shelters have turned to appointment only due to covid. Couldn’t get through to anyone so we decided to show up. Saw one man with his feet up at his desk chatting with another man. We waited patiently for their conversation to end, He said we could just go ahead and look at the dogs. So we went into the kennel by ourselves and looked. We (Another person I was with and myself) both found a dog we wanted, Filled out an application, The man said if we’re approved we will definitely get a call, If not I guess we won’t hear from them. During that same day we applied at two other animal shelters and got accepted to adopt at both of them, We are actually in the process of adopting a dog in Dartmouth. Weird how we didn’t get approved here but everywhere else we did. The man working didn’t seem to have a care in the world. Sad because they always post cute dogs on Facebook (When we went in they only had two and one aggressive one). Probably won’t come back here

Went to visit a surrender dog "Toby" call prior to visiting . The woman that answered my call said that "Toby" was available so I said I'd be over! She said I'm not taking any more applications as of my phone call! She just made that decision on the spot! WOW I went over anyway, she said that she had a dozen or so applications. I asked why won't you take mine?...What happens if some people cancel, some aren't qualified etc. She looked at me an didn't answer! It certainly appeared she had the owner picked out already....That's how it looked to me and my friend!I am totally discussed by how I was treated by this woman. Sadly I didn't get her name! She is completely unprofessional and certainly needs lessons on how to deal with the public! She deserves zero star! The young volunteer that showed us the pup was very friendly! She deserves 10 stars being able to work with the other woman! I would avoid Fairhaven Animal Control at all cost! She'll never see us again there are way to many fine establishment that have wonderful animals and know how to work with people!

I put in an adoption application 2 weeks ago and was told I would hear back from them. These past 2 weeks I have tried to call and get in touch with somebody on the status of my application. I've even left a voicemail. I never heard back from anybody or could get in touch with anybody when I call. I even messaged a volunteer and still never heard anything. I went by numerous times they were always closed. As I pulled in the parking lot some man happened to be pulling out and told me the puppy I wanted got adopted last week. I could still be waiting to hear from them. My family and I are very disappointed and they are very unorganized. Maybe I should have read the reviews before we got our hopes up.

Vastly unprofessional. They are only open 9-3 during the week, so if you are a working person, you have to wait until the weekend to go in. They will not take applications for adoption online. Then they will say, "Don't worry, it's not first come, first served. We review all the applications to make the best decision for the animal." And then you discover that in the process of waiting a day or two, the animal is already adopted out to one of their friends. Go elsewhere to adopt so you won't be disappointed.

Last year we rescued Buster from Fairhaven animal shelter. It was instant love for us and our other dog Luna. The experience we had was phenomenal. They not only contacted us right away to set up an appointment, but they also made the process of taking home Buster quick and easy. We couldn't be happier with our decision to go through them, would definitely recommend.
