Donations office staff window members are so unwelcoming and untrustworthy. I’ve brought two stray kittens here in the past week to prevent them from dying over the harsh winter. I was informed by a member at the window that stray cats don’t do well there and they gave me other numbers to start bringing stray animals to. Isn’t this place a rescue area welcoming Frederick county’s stray and or rehoused surrendered animals? What a shame. The unwelcoming message in this atmosphere definitely delivered, I won’t be back. They expect way too much of the community to catch and spay or neuter their own strays they find or try to label them as yours after feeding them when we all know (2 weeks fed becomes yours) and they give very little comfort back reassuring the communities people who are trying to donate strays to have a chance at a better life. I’m disgusted more and more by this establishment over this past year. Be cautious using this shelter for even your calm caught strays. No wonder people dump animals in the wild to fend for themselves when living in a community that has this low support system that truly doesn’t care. 👎

We adopted a rabbit recently and this was Our first ever per adoption experience as well as first time rabbit ownership. Staff was amazingly friendly courteous and knowledgeable. We are so thankful for their kindness and patience with us as well as communication and efficiency with handling everything. ❤️

Disappointed with the level of unfriendliness of the donation window staff members. I get it. You’re tired, don’t want more stray animals to care for. But this is your job, this is why you’re here isn’t it… I think this shelter needs to reevaluate their support statement in this community. I won’t give this place anything again. Whoever worked 10am shift, 10/7/25, this one goes out to you. 👎

Its sad we have to have a "Pound" in Frederick but I'm so glad we do. I recently found a batch of kittens that were orphaned and instead of them becoming Feral, I took them to the pound and the staff "after hours" were great. I'm confident the 5 little ones will be homes quickly, if not already. Good luck with the remodel
