All of the staff is kind and helpful. They are really understaffed there, so it was great to see volunteers walking the dogs. Definitely be patient with the staff and take that into consideration! They are very kind and patient if you are understanding. I would recommend doing any extra paper work after adopting in person and keeping a copy of whatever documents you agree to. Updated photo : that sweet little puppy grew into a happy 90 lb dog

We adopted a dog named Riley and she has been a great girl. I was impressed with her manners as a pound puppy. She is good with babies and cats and listens so well.

LIFE SAVERS. My husband and I recently moved to Lawton for the army and wanted to adopt a cat. I always wanted to rescue a cat because there are so many loveable cats at shelters. There were about 9 or so cats ready to be adopted and every single one of them was sweet and had gentle personalities. I was not expecting that. Trying to choose was very hard. They were all relatively young, from kitten to under 7 and healthy. This shelter spays, neuters, gives rabies vaccinations IN ADDITION to microchiping (!) and sending you home with a bag of cat food, litter, toys and blanket to help support you in this adoption. All of this for $16 with tax. Shelters offer so much for adoption and are so much more affordable than a pet store adoption fee. The vet there was super informative and kind as well as the front desk staff and other staff. They treat the animals very well and are great to work with. PLEASE consider getting your furry family members from here. So many dogs and cats need loving homes and this is a very good facility. We decided on a black male cat, about 2 years old, and named him Lord Vader.

On hold for almost 45 minutes the lady said hello once and before I could reply she hung up. Now I'm on hold again more of my time wasted. [ UPDATE: Screw this place when I finally got ahold of them I was then told I could not surrender my cats because I DON'T LIVE IN LAWTON BUT RIGHT OUTSIDE IT!!! Even though I stressed to this lady I can't afford them due to bills and living costs now I was afraid I wouldn't be able to properly care for them at all and she practically told me "there was nothing she could do". If i wasn't able to feed these sweet baby they wouldn't care they made that very clear. (P.s I will always find a way to feed them no matter what)

I got to volunteer today and walk Toby. He's a sweet old boy who is all about smelling everything and wanting to play with other dogs. He's great on leash! His chart says great with kids also. He really didn't want to go back in the shelter once he heard the other dogs. Poor old boy. Not sure what his situation was (dumped, living life on his own or what) he really didn't have any interest in being loved on or pet. Just enjoyed being free. 3 months to adjustbin hos new home and hos personality will shine. This place is amazing and if you can volunteer it helps them so much! Hope this senior gets a home fast! His bark/howl is pretty sweet too.
